Dionne Ignites Confidence On ‘Give Me Vogue’

“Dionne has strutted into the music industry with an admirable mellifluous glow, showcased on her debut EP ‘Give Me Vogue’.”

Singer-songwriter Dionne has recently launched her solo career, having successfully completed two world tours as a vocalist, violinist and guitarist – being a member of Florence + The Machine. Her debut EP ‘Give Me Vogue’ has the perfect mix of commercial appeal and authentic appeal, serving for a wide audience.

There’s no denying that the tune of opening track ‘One’ is powerful all the way through. From the anticipation-building intro to the strong tones of the vocals, the song allows us to feel empowered as listeners when we hear all the elements of the melody work together splendidly.

It’s the beginning of ‘Give Me Vogue’ and it feels like we’ve entered Dionne’s realm already. A countdown leads us to the vocals and an addictive beat. The vocals are delivered flawlessly with an element of sass. And the crisp production adds a vibrant spark to the music. But what I love most about ‘Give Me Vogue’ is its timeless quality, making it a strong melody you can’t help but feel love for, which you come to appreciate most at the end when it leads us to ‘Diamond (Interlude).”

“I wrote what I was feeling most intensely and what I knew needed to be shared. I love reading Edward Enninful’s editor letters in Vogue; his zest for life, boldness and championing of others really resonates with me. This whole EP is me being hype woman to everyone listening including myself; I want to cheer people on and help them find their inner confidence,” states Dionne in regards to her EP.

The free-spirit nature of ‘Sunrise’ is refreshing, seen especially in the lyric ‘We can take the world tonight, take us on the best ride of our life’. The instrumental also has this enviably exhilarating atmosphere, causing us to be even more in awe of the scene that Dionne sets here. The following and final track ‘Golden Boy’. We hear a similar timeless quality to that of ‘Give me Vogue’, with a variety of melodic techniques that give the song such immense character. The vocals in particular shine, parading a brilliant range, with higher vocal tones and deeper vocal tones used in all the right places to exhibit the right emotions.

You can listen to Dionne here (‘Give Me Vogue is out on the 14th of December!)
