Found Object has taken his talents to produce his cohesive album ‘Every Silver Lining’. Releasing electronic music for three years now, it feels like Pete Allen has really enhanced his natural music crafting abilities when you hear how these tracks intertwine with each other and also make a statement alone.
‘Radiance’ is first at centre-stage, displaying an atmosphere in accordance with its title. With a vibrant, head-bopping hook, repeated like a smooth mantra, the production is pristine and stimulating. ‘Silver Lining’ follows, diving into an 80s realm similar to that of Depeche Mode. The most notable sounds including electronic whistling notes. There’s comparability within the structure of both songs, but they consist of juxtaposing combinations of electronic devices.
‘Mephisto’ is as intriguing as its title; fast-paced with superbly dramatic tendencies. Texture is added to the instrumental as the song progresses, yet keeping to the pounding of the beat. ‘Mephisto’ certainly catches us in a melodious trance.
‘Wintersong’ begins a little differently, with a sparkle then simmer kind of flow. Spontaneous sounds add an adrenaline to the melody. There’s incredible pitch variation, ascending and descending consistently. ‘Summersong’ shares the tune of ‘Wintersong’, perhaps its more upbeat relative or seasonal comrade. The song channels the energy of success – maybe completing a maze or winning a race – seen in the way the notes sour to new heights correspondingly with each other.
‘Invisible Parade’ takes us to the end of ‘Every Silver Lining’, and there’s a striking contrast between a fast beat and the slower melody its shrouded in. This melody is pursued further as the beat changes into a second hook, spiralling into a new fusion of techniques we become familiar with and that are layered with sophistication. ‘Invisible Parade’ exits with a faded effect – an echo of the guiding melody.
