An Interview With Revised

Love the songs on the new EP! What was the process of making ‘paper plates’ like?

Revised: “For a few months after we started playing together properly we spent some time writing and perfecting the three songs on the EP whilst also doing gigs and covers of songs by our favourite bands. Then we recorded the songs at the studio where we practice and had them mixed and mastered and out on all platforms a few weeks later.”

Tell us more about how ‘Revised’ was formed.

Revised: “Joe and Josh decided to start a band when they were sharing a room in Berlin and then asked Ella to be our drummer because she was at the same school. For a while we didn’t really get started doing anything until Joe moved schools and met Thomas. Then in September 2023 we had our first practice and started taking it more seriously.”

What has been the best thing about performing live?

Revised: “Being on stage playing in front of people that have come to see you play your own songs is such a surreal experience and also playing covers that everyone knows is also such a good feeling.”

If you could describe your sound in three words, how would you describe it?

Revised: “A melange, memorable and anachronistic.”

Which influences, musical or non-musical, inspired ‘paper plates’?

Revised: “It varies slightly on each song, for the title track bands like The Smiths and The Cure were a huge influence on that song, but the other songs were more influenced by Radiohead and The Strokes.”

What advice do you have for bands about to enter the music community?

Revised: “Make sure that you play together as much as possible, get as many gigs and opportunities as you can and make music that you want to make instead of what other people might want you to.”

What can fans keep an eye out for this year?

Revised: “We’ve got a few gigs coming up, and also a bigger event which we’re working on and will hopefully be announced soon. We’re also planning to record our next EP with some new songs that we’re excited for everyone to hear.”
