“ALBA releases back to back masterfully produced tunes on her latest album ‘3’.”
Writer, composer and performer ALBA is back this year with her follow up album to ‘Le bons sens’ – her 2023 release. There’s so much to uncover from ‘3’ in all of its melodies and components.
‘Tu nube’ – the track that sets the tone for ‘3’ – has an electronic hook which shows off ALBA’s knack for great production. Many sounds are explored as the energetic tempo steers us in a melodic direction. In ‘Et Pourtant’, ALBA’s voice is expressed with such animation and love. The instrumental responds beautifully to these elements while bringing its own quirks. Both songs are strong lyrically also, with ALBA poetically singing in ‘Tu Nube’ ‘je vois a travers mes yeux sombres que ce nuage me fait encore de l’ombre’ translating to ‘I see through my dark eyes that this cloud is still shadowing me.” And ‘Et Pourtant’ explores deeper concepts regarding God.
Melodies are subjective, but there’s good reason to argue that title track ‘3’ has the strongest. With a commercial appeal, the brilliant production continued from the first two tracks enhances the addictive tune. The electronica of ‘3’ is executed with meticulous care.
‘NO’ perpetuates the exciting electronica of ‘3’, but there’s something a little different about this song; the lyrics are Italian. And within these lyrics, we uncover lines like ‘scrivo un’altra storia che non vieti di sognare’ translating to ‘I’m writing another story that doesn’t forbid you to dream’ And so ALBA presents to us this ethereal ambience. ‘Le contract’ follows, disclosing vocals with an alluring character. They draw you in from beginning until end.
The softer tone of ‘Hugo’ adds depth to the album. ALBA soothes her listeners with her mellifluous vocals, in ways she hadn’t explored before. The slower tempo compliments this. Whispering her way through the intro of ‘Secrets’, ALBA presents even more experimentation. And it’s incredibly successful. The trumpets add a flamboyant flair, and the tune traverses through many different atmospheres. There’s never a boring moment.
